Annual Report 2006-2007

Lead the Way 2006-2007

What a great time to be a Rotarian, and especially with the greatest Rotary Club in the world!  We are reminded daily in our lives that there are still plenty of opportunities to serve in our community, in the workplace and throughout the world. Indeed, the world needs Rotary now more than ever, and Del Norte, as always, is ready to serve.James & Wendy Morrison, 2006-2007

As we head into our 18
th year of service, what more can we do?  What should the 2006-2007 Leadership Team focus on? I submit to you that we already do an outstanding job of service. Del Norte continues to be one of the most generous clubs in the District and certainly ranks highly in the world.

We provide financial and hands-on assistance to dozens of community groups.  We consistently reach out to the world through our matching grant programs, Ambassadorial Scholarships and Group Study Exchange. We actively support youth through RYLA, Student Exchange, Interact, and Rotaract.  During our journey, we have created and are sustaining a permanent fund through the Del Norte Foundation. We participate in numerous levels of Rotary leadership throughout the District as well as international.  And the best part of serving is we have a lot of fun and enjoy the fellowship of one another.

We continue to possess all of the ingredients for a successful Rotary Club.  So what should we focus on?  The answer is participation.  If indeed we are the greatest Rotary Club in the world, then we should share this wonderful experience with our friends, neighbors and business colleagues.  We should continue to search outside our club to fill our vacancies; however, our largest opportunity still exists within our own organization.

We have an untapped and underutilized wealth of resources right here at Del Norte.  We have an abundant supply of Rotarians that can be, and should be, called back into active service.  During our weekly meetings, take a minute to look around to identify those club members who, over time, have gotten lost, misplaced or ignored.  Unfortunately, some of those folks have faded away and silently disappeared.  I say, call them up and invite them back to share in Rotary and in all of the extraordinary experiences that Del Norte offers.

So, here is the deal:  The 2006-2007 Leadership Team promises to continue to provide great opportunities to serve, to have fun and to enjoy fellowship.  In return, we ask each of you to reach out and involve your fellow Rotarians.  Help us to further engage the membership.  Simply stated, the more members who are involved, the more we can do.   The more we do, the more pleasure we have in serving. Make sense?

Finally, we need your continued financial support, your time and all of your talents.  As you have always done in the past, please continue to contribute…. until it feels good and not until it hurts.

On behalf of the entire Leadership Team, we need your support, and we need your prayers to help us “Lead the Way.”

Thank you for this opportunity to serve.
